George is down twice on the 1871 census. Once as living with his mother Emma with his wife Emma (which I think is an error) and once as having been born in middlesex a year after his actual birth date and as a single male. There is two distinct problems with this, there is no record of George Cobbett having married an Emma. There is only 1 George Cobbett born c1843/44 and only one recorded in the census from that point til;l the 1871 census, and there is only one George Cobbett's death for that age having been recorded, then no record of any George Cobbett for that approximate time thereafter.

I can only surmise, He was trying to marry bigamously, an act commited by both his son and grandson
